We need to use whatever creative means possible to place before our young learners ideas and tools that will help them modify their own behaviour. If kids can have a visual cue and guide to let them know how they are doing with respect to little tasks that shape their growth - then this would be extremely valuable. This is a sample chart that kids can use - with the help of a parent/teacher - to see how they progress and adapt their behavioural patterns. This can be a form of guided self-assessment.
